Veneers are ultra-thin shells of ceramic (porcelain) or a composite resin material, which are bonded to the front of teeth. This procedure requires little or no anesthesia and can be the ideal choice for improving the appearance of the front teeth. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth to improve their color, shape, size etc.

It is used in following cases

1) When teeth are chipped or broken
2) Teeth are discolored due to root canal treatment or any other reason
3) Teeth with gaps between them.
4) Teeth which are uneven or misaligned

Procedure: Veneers can be applied in usually three sittings.

In first visit Dentist will examine your requirement and will take impression of your teeth to send it to lab for making veneer as per your teeth dimensions. X-ray can be used to take impression. Your dentist will remove about ½ millimeter of enamel from your teeth which is same as thickness of veneer. Local anesthetic will be used to numb your jaw, once impression is made, it is sent to lab for veneer preparation.

It takes generally one to two week to receive veneers from lab. Once it comes, Color of veneer can be customized using cement. Tooth is cleaned, polished and etched to receive veneer. Special cement is applied on Veneer and light beam is used for bonding.
A follow up is scheduled after couple of weeks to see how your gum and teeth are responding to veneer.
How long teeth veneers last: Veneers last for 5 to 10 years and does not require any special care
